Hello Reader,
It's been a while since my last post. Lots of reasons why, the main one being I just needed to take a break while I focused on offline life. You know... family, health... all the usual suspects.. General blogging and social media advice appear to suggest you are not doing it right if you don't post every day. I have to disagree simply because it doesn't fit me.
Then the other day I saw a tweet that lead me to this post which made me feel good about my attitiude.
Why Posting Every Day is A Silly Strategy (And What to Do Instead)
I may not blog, tweet or update my status every day but you can be sure I am doing something creative everyday. That's what I do instead. I've got more than one project in progress and I continue to work on new projects which include doing more drawing.
I sketched out a couple of drawings last week one of which I posted on my Facebook page.
Besides Twitter this is probably one of the best places to keep up with my activities outside of the blog. I share photos of my work and other useful articles from other blogs, pages and so on. Last weekend I sat down and got to work on the sketch, choosing to use a style I once did with pen and ink. It's much cleaner with the drawing pens so I don't miss those tools at all. Youngsters among you are looking confused... pen and ink?
Never mind... I'm showing my age...
Here is my drawing of the dreadlocks couple in progress... click Yes:

What do you think?
Do you like?
Do you prefer bloggers who blog every day, every week, every month or whenever?
Let us know what you think.
I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best!

You're so right, we're here to BE creative, not to spend all our time at the computer blogging about it! SO hard to get the balance right....
ReplyDeleteI love the textural effect of your drawing style. Have a great week Pearletta,

Thank you Penny for your affirmation. It is a balancing act. For creative people I think it is much better if we lean more toward BEING creative more than writing about it, but just enough, not too much.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like my drawing style. I'm thinking of making a coloured version next.

Absolutely! You know I take breaks from time to time. It is even OK to do NOTHING because in our nothingness, the subconscious brain churns through ideas, soaks up inspiration and gives out motivation.

Blogging Without Obligation
I have had a week or so intense online presence but only one blog post. Keeping up with all the social media takes time, lots of it if you don't have a whizzy internet phone! Believe it or not, dinosaurs still exist.
You take care and enjoy the drawing.
Thanks Shirley, I am going to check that article out. You are right about just doing nothing. I have days like that too but I still sneak in a few rows of knitting ;)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely having fun with the drawing :)
