Knitted Blanket - Sew Time

When the weather is hot I want to sit in the garden. What with the odd breeze, welcome though it is, the garden is not really the place for making cards. Well not without a summerhouse anyway but that's another dream.

This past sizzling weekend marks the beginning of my summer of crafting. I decided to get started on sewing the knitted squares for my personal project started almost a year ago. During those months of knitting I was motivated by the thought of snuggling under my blanket in front of the TV or when I'm not feeling so well.

Once the knitting was over it was time to work out how I was going to arrange my 'squares'. Yes I know they are actually rectangles. That is why I have a different number of rows to columns.

The random colours were dictated by what was available both in my stash and in the shop. That and the uneven number of rows to columns meant it was not possible to create a symmetrical pattern. My random design was worked out using Microsoft Word. I made a table of 8x9 and coloured shapes to represent each square. It was almost like playing a game as I dragged the shapes around until I was happy enough with the final arrangement. This is what I am using as a guide.

The weather forecast is rain so I expect I'll do something else tomorrow.

Happy crafting :)

  1. Been meaning to pop back and comment here - read the post a while ago and thought how ingenious you have been with this project. In many ways, it is good to prepare something for the winter, something you can use yourself. I hope the summer also brings good things in your papercrafting life.

Thanks for the badge addition! Very fast!

  3. Thank you Anthea for becoming my newest follower. As you say the are so many possibilities. I was having a touch of crafters block but your comment reminded me of what I can do and I came up with a new idea. Thanks so much x

I did have so much hopes for the summer Shirley but I've got bogged down with dealing with the administrative matters of setting up a home business rather than being creative. Hopefully I will address that balance before the summer is over.
    It's not quite done yet!
